Home Depot Build a School House Bank Nov. 28th

  • Start a project with the kids that you can take to the bank! With the School House Bank Workshop at The Home Depot, teach them the basics of working with tools, while letting them take pride in building a functional object to keep.

  • All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.

  • Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.

  • Kids Workshop activities are scheduled on a first come/first served basis. Please do not arrive before 9:00 a.m.

Bring your monsters, warriors, clowns and cuties to the best Halloween party in town – the 15th Annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat! Join the City of Auburn for this spooktacular alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating on Thursday, October 29 from 6 – 8 p.m. in downtown Auburn.
     
    Downtown merchants will provide treats for the children and DJ Ozz will return as our musical entertainment to have you feeling “ghouly.”
    Everyone is invited to dress up and come in costume, adults and children alike! You could be the Pick of the Patch in our costume contests. The costume judging will begin at 7p.m. for best pet, individual (12 years of age or younger) and Family costume. 
     
    The Downtown Trick-or-Treat is FREE to the public and will be held rain or shine. Downtown streets will close at 5:30 p.m. However, parents must accompany children to this event.  Check out our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CityofAuburnAL for more details.

    Haunted Auburn Walking Tour October 9-10, 23-24 from 7-10 pm

    Alabama Spectral Investigators lead you past some of Auburn's most famous haunted locations.  You'll learn interesting histories and haunted facts about what has been named "Loveliest Village on the Plains".  Tours last approximately 45 minutes.  Two tours will occur, the fist will begin at 7 pm and the second at 9 pm.  Plan to meet your tour guides between Auburn's stone eagles located diagonally from Toomer's Corner.

    Indian SummerNight is an arts festival that transforms downtown Auburn into an arts district, featuring the work of local and regional artists, live musicians, street performers, food and drink vendors, and children's activities. Each year the Auburn Arts Association, City of Auburn, Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center and Auburn Downtown Merchants Association host this event to highlight the many talented artists in our area in addition to promoting our unique downtown area. 
     
    During this event downtown merchants and restaurants remain open after regular business hours and people of all ages are encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity to shop, dine and relax while enjoying the arts in downtown Auburn. Artists will have their works on display and live musical entertainment is provided.  Make sure to bring your kids too as children also have an opportunity to participate in arts and crafts, as well as enjoy other kid specific attractions that change each year! Don’t miss out on this great, family-friendly experience in downtown Auburn! 
     
    In addition to the arts festivities, we are encouraging culinary artists to display their talents through a BBQ sauce contest and a cornbread contest. All are encouraged to submit their best sauces and cornbreads for entry in the contests!

    Home Depot Kids Workshop Sept. 5th

    Free Summer Swing Concerts Every Tuesday in Opelika

    Every Tuesday evening beginning in May the Opelika Parks and Recreation Department hosts a free outdoor concert at 7:00 p.m. at Municipal Park in Opelika, Alabama. This 15-week concert series offers a wide variety of musical entertainment including Gospel, Jazz, R & B, Praise and Worship, Oldies, Country, Big Band Swing, Folk, and Community Band music
     
    The Opelika Band Boosters will prepare hamburgers and hotdogs in the park for a nominal fee from 6:15-7:30 p.m. These are ideal for a family picnic. Charter Bank of Opelika will provide complimentary lemonade during the concerts.Kona Ice will have shaved ice for sale at each concert as well.
     The Rocky Brook Rocket, a vintage train with a long, rich history, has been restored and is back on the tracks for complimentary train rides.
     
    Come out early! Bring the whole family, a quilt or lawn chair and relax on the bank of Rocky Brook Creek for an evening of musical fun, fellowship and relaxation.

    Auburn Cityfest being held Sat, April 25th

    Auburn Cityfest will be held this Saturday, April 25 from 9-4 at Kiesel Park.  There will be live music, food vendors, and a huge children's imagination station.  Many arts and crafts vendors will be there as well.  This is a rain or shine event.  It is a great activity for both children and adults alike.

    Saxophone Quartet Community Concert on April 26th

    Louise Kreher Forest Ecology Preserve is hosting a free community concert featuring the Auburn University Music Department’s Saxophone Quartet on Sunday, April 26. Food vendors will be on hand to purchase light refreshments beginning at 3:00 p.m. The concert will begin at 3:30 p.m. Picnics and chairs are welcomed. Free admission. Canceled in the event of rain.

    Free Tai Chi Class on Thursday, March 19th

    image002Escape from the chaos of the work week and enjoy Tai Chi at the Kreher Preserve & Nature Center. The essence of Tai Chi practice is balance and harmony. Tai Chi allows us the opportunity to slow down and be present in a fast-paced and often stressful world. The slow, gentle, mindful way of moving imparts grace to the body, calmness to the mind and lifts the spirits. A centuries old practice, Tai Chi is being recommended by health organizations around the world as an effective exercise that can improve balance and posture, prevent falls, build immunity, reduce stress and chronic pain, and even promote cognitive function. The instructor, Kitty Frey, is certified in several Tai Chi for Health programs.
    Tai Chi class is free and scheduled at the pavilion from 5:15 – 6:15, on Thursday, March 19, at the Kreher Preserve & Nature Center located at 2222 N. College Street, Auburn. The nature center is located 3 miles north of Toomer’s Corner and the entrance is just north of the AU Fisheries complex. Canceled in the event of rain.

    Lowe's Build and Grow workshop for kids is being held this Saturday, March 14 at 10 am.  Kids will be building a Monster Jam project featuring El Toro Loco®.  Please register online before workshop.  Each month Lowe's hosts a Build and Grow workshop for kids to build a wooden project.  Kids get a free apron, goggles, patch, and more!

    Try hockey for free this Saturday!



    This Saturday, February 21st, Auburn Ice Hockey is assisting the Columbus Hockey Association in hosting kids ages 4-12 to come try hockey for free at the Columbus ice rink!  Register your child at www.tryhockeyforfree.com. The event will last from 9:00-10:30.  This will be held at the Columbus Ice Rink located at 400 Fourth Street, Columbus, Georgia.  If your child has shown an interest in hockey, this is the perfect opportunity to come try it out!

    Jim Bob's Chicken Fingers Kids Eat Free Every SATURDAY!



    It is rare to find Kids Eat Free deals at restaurants on the weekends.  But Jim Bob's is the exception!  Every Saturday, Kids 12 and under can dine in for free with an adult meal purchase.  One free meal per adult meal purchase.  Kids must order off the kids' menu.  Pretty standard requirements for these deals.  Visit their website to view their menu and other daily specials.
