Free Activities for Friday, October 7th, 2011

Here's what is free for Friday, October 7th, 2011:

8am-10 am: Practice line dancing at the Jan Dempsey Community Art Center. Line dance for fun and exercise. Learn a different dance each week. The most popular line dances are included so that you can dance at parties and other dances. New line dances will be included to match songs of popular country artists. Beginners are always welcome.

9:00am: Join Auburn Stride Walkers a morning walk. Walkers will meet at one of our various walking trails weekly. Walks are held at your own pace and distance. Come have fun, make new friends, and walk your way to a healthier lifestyle. Contact Melissa Weldon at 501-2946 or mweldon@auburnalabama.org to find out where to meet.

10:30am-3pm: Drop in for a game of at the Frank Brown Recreation Center. Get a workout while having fun playing a game of basketball. All games last 12 minutes or 12 points.

1pm-3pm: Join fellow artists at Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center for Open Studio. Bring your artwork, art supplies, and ideas and join your artistic peers. This is an encouraging group who will critique your work if asked and share art ideas between ourselves.

5pm-6pm: Intermediate line dancing is practiced at Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center. Steps patterns will be taught and then reviewed by practicing with appropriate music.

7pm-9pm: It's Swing Friday! Swing Friday is for those who have some (or no) dance experience and want to practice the East Coast Swing, Charleston, and Lindy Hop. Teaching is informal, but every Friday there will be an hour lesson from 7 –8 p.m. and social dancing from 8 – 9 p.m. You do not have to bring a partner with you. Instruction is provided by Auburn Swing Dance Association.
